Food Sunday

Peeps, we have oven lift off! WOO! It so nice to have a heat source for cooking once again!!!

I am also quite proud to present this week’s dish: tater tot (or french fry) casserole!!! Y’all, it is SO easy and crazy good!

A quick note first, the UK doesn’t seem to have tater tots, much to my extreme dismay. SO, I have subbed french fries for the tots. It’s still all kinds of yummy! I am REALLY BIG into texture in what I eat, and the texture for this dish is just perfection! Let’s get to it!

~ 1 lb ground beef
~ processed cheese slices (These melt better than deli cheese.)
~ 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
~ tater tots (or french fries)
~ salt and pepper, if you want

1 – Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
2 – Coat a 13″ x 9″ pan with cooking spray.
3 – Take the ground beef out of the package and squish it through your hands so that gets to an even consistency. Press it into the bottom of the pan, creating an even layer of meat.
4 – Add salt and pepper to the meat, if desired.
5 – Add a layer of cheese slices to the meat. (I used to do a double layer if I was feeling froggy! I love me some cheese!)
6 – Pour the cream of mushroom soup onto the cheese. Use a the back of a spoon to spread evenly.
7 – Place tater tots on top of the soup until it is completely covered. (From what I can remember, this used to take about 40 tots.)
8 – Bake at 400 degrees F for one hour.
9 – Serve with ketchup, if that’s how you roll. ๐Ÿ˜‰


Please note: I had to use a smaller pan because I didn’t have the full pound of meat…Still not used to the grams/pounds conversion!!! But fear not, it was equally as delicious!

This is a great recipe for kids, and dudes seem to like it as well. ๐Ÿ˜‰ And being a casserole, it’s even better the next day when all the textures/flavors have further congealed into tasty greatness!!
